Request for Routing Instructions

Request for Routing Instructions (753) and Routing Instructions (754)

A “Push-Button” Solution for a Complex EDI Business Process

Some retailers including J.C. Penney, Cabela’s, Kohl’s and AAFES use the 753 Request for Routing and 754 Routing Instructions EDI transaction set to communicate final routing information for purchase orders, purchase order overrides and to authorize shipments.

The Request for Routing Instructions is used to request final routing instructions, provide general information about merchandise that is ready to be shipped and to notify the Trading Partner that a shipment will occur soon.  This document is time sensitive and normally generated within 48 to 72 before the requested ship date.  The Routing Instructions document is returned by the trading partner for each specific Purchase Order. Typically, a supplier is not authorized to ship without receipt of routing instructions. When the final routing instructions are received from the partner, a final ASN is created at the click of a mouse and never requires duplicate data entry.

While routing requests complicate the EDI transaction process, Data Masons EDI has a solution that makes it simple and efficient. Using the Data Masons EDI 753 and 754 Routing Requests solution, you’ll be able to properly manage and respond to customer routing requests accurately with minimal added effort.
