Did you know that Microsoft hopes to hit its 100,000 customer milestone this year?

It was a big day in Barcelona for Convergence 2013 EMEA as Kirill Tatarinov, Executive Vice President, Microsoft Business Solutions, and Jean-Philippe Courtois, President, Microsoft International, took the stage for the keynote. Their presentation focused on how people and businesses can reimagine the way they engage with customers, build brand relevance, and collaborate to stay ahead of the ever-changing market and business environments.

Microsoft announced that Dynamics AX 2012 R3 is planned for April 2014 and will be supported for deployment in Windows Azure via infrastructure as a service (IaaS). AX 2012 R3 delivers new warehouse and transportation management capabilities, powered by software recently acquired from Dynamics AX ISV partner Blue Horseshoe. The company also shared that it remains on track to deliver the next major version of Microsoft Dynamics AX, also known as Rainier, on-premises and as a public cloud service offering.

The message delivered to the audience is that Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 is all about "Amazing Customer Experiences" and this theme continued on in the NAV General Session led by Jesper L. Ræbild, Senior Product Manager, Microsoft. Raebild discussed the role of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 R2 in helping companies deliver on their customer promises, highlighting specifically the roles of Office 365 and the Cloud. Microsoft Dynamics NAV customer Pall-Ex / CFS was featured during the session.

I called it the “Breakfast of Champions,” but officially it was the Microsoft MVP Breakfast in Tampa. Together with Fastpath, Data Masons had the pleasure of hosting many of the Microsoft MVPs for the morning before heading off to sessions. Knowing how much knowledge these MVPs hold, I reached out to them last week to see which sessions they attended and would recommend to the community.

Here’s the MVP session recommendation list:

[Mark Polino] "I really enjoyed Microsoft Sr. Program Manager Kevin Racer’s session on deploying the web client for small companies. I think there is a fear of the web client, that it’s big and complicated and requires a lot of resources. Kevin showed how approachable it is for small companies.”

[Belinda Allen] “’Power Up Your BI Capabilities with Power View in SQL Server 2012’ presented by Miguel Lozano is no doubt the session I recommend. He showed Power Q&A, which I feel will absolutely change BI as we know it today. I just loved this session!”

[Gretchen Opferkew] “Most of the great sessions were roundtables, which offered users the opportunity to connect and gain wisdom from each other. However, I recommend that all the XRM geeks check out the CRM Confessions sessions on XRM in the public sector (Celia Gust from Carver County) and higher education (Scott Guthrie from Winona State University). [Leslie Vail] “The most valuable session for me was presented by Belinda Allen about BI. She introduced me to a new perspective on how to approach clients about possible BI engagements. Her session was very thought provoking and has changed the way I think about BI. “

If an MVP is recommending it, you know it has to be good! Catch of the replays of these sessions and others on the AXUG Collaborate site, GPUG Collaborate site, NAVUG Collaborate site and CRM Collaborate site. If the presentations aren't yet posted, they should be coming soon. Thanks to all the MVPs for their continued support of the community!

atlanta

While we had already marked our calendars for March 4-7 in Atlanta, we hadn't planned on going this big... We're excited to announce that we'll be sponsoring Microsoft Convergence 2014 as a Silver Sponsor! What this means to us is more expo space to host more conversations and the opportunity to share our EDI expertise with attendees during the educational sessions!

Did we mention that we're excited? We're looking forward to seeing everyone in Atlanta. Until then, you can register for Convergence 2014, stay tuned in with the Twitter hashtag #CONV14 or sign up for event email alerts.

See you in March!

how manyLooking at the percentage of folks that have attended 5+ Summits/Forums, I see that I’m one of the few making up that 7%. But what’s most interesting, if you’re part of the 7%, is how we’ve seen the community has grown in such a short timeframe.

I remember very clearly attending the first AXUG Summit. In its beginning, it was a small conference, I believe in Redmond, where exhibitors had a small space in a cramped hallway. Today, look at the number of sponsors and exhibitors that fill these huge expo halls. 5+ years ago we walked a few steps to shake hands with our colleagues, today we have to set aside three days and numerous expo hall hours to make a dent in our who-we-want-to-meet and what-we-want-to-learn goals. If you’re lucky enough to be part of that 7%, you know exactly what I’m talking about.

Congratulations Dynamic Communities, especially Andy Hafer (@ahafer) and Frank Vukovitz (@Fvukovits), and to all of its members and supporting partner organizations! It’s no small feat to grow a community to this level in just 5+ years, but we’ve done it. Thank you for a fantastic week in Tampa and now let’s see how we can extend even more as we head to St. Louis in 2014!

I hope that everyone had as successful of a week as I did, along with Data Masons. Start to finish, a quality educational program, inspiring speaker panel and engaging networking opportunities. Some highlights for us included:

  • The Partner Connections Event:
Only about 18 people that attended this event did not continue on to another User Group event. This event was a great beginning to the week, starting discussions on Sunday and then having the rest of the week to develop the conversations. Keynote speaker Joe Mechlinski also led a timely and inspiring discussion which highlighted the theme of growing business within this competitive economy.

  • AXUG Summit Premier Party: Who doesn’t like to Chill-AX? Thanks to all of the attendees that joined us and our co-host, RF-SMART, at Jackson’s Bistro to chill-ax before kicking off the AXUG Summit. Each year this party seems to get better and better! Watch out St. Louis!

  • Opportunities with Vendor EDI: We were excited to see the high interest in our sessions this year that focused on Vendor EDI. Our clients that have implemented a vendor EDI strategy have realized measurable cost savings for their business and it’s a huge opportunity for other companies investing in EDI technology.

  • MVP Breakfast: Thanks to all the Microsoft MVPs for inviting us to co-host this “breakfast of champions” along with Fastpath.

A day back in the office and we’re already looking forward to the 2014 User Group events in St. Louis during the week of October 13, 2014. But if you’re planning to attend the NAVUG Forum, forget it, this was the final Forum. But not to worry, the first NAVUG Summit is shaping up for St. Louis.

Like our experience with AXUG Summit and GPUG Summit, it’s been a wild time juggling all of the goings-on, from the expo hall to the education sessions, to our own Partner showcases. There have been numerous highlights early in the week, but I have selected a few that MSDynamicsworld.com has covered in detail:

We’re excited that there was a high interest in our sessions this year that focused on Vendor EDI. Our clients that have implemented a vendor EDI strategy have realized measurable cost savings for their business and it’s a huge opportunity for other companies investing in EDI technology. If you missed the Vendor EDI sessions, stop by booth #427 today and we’ll be happy to share come customer success stories with you.

Today still brings a wealth of opportunity for attendees before the closing session. I’m sure we can expect an announcement about where the 2014 event will be held, stay tuned!

A great day yesterday, start to finish! With Tony Dungy kicking off the day as the keynote speaker, how could we not move forward with excitement throughout all the week’s activities? Catch the recap of Coach Dungy's keynote presentation as blogged by Dynamic Communities.

With the evening's Rock-n-Rave Party in mind, it was all work before any play! In addition to expo hall time at Data Masons' booth, there was a busy day of sessions to attend. I was excited to see such a large turnout at Data Masons' session on Vendor EDI opportunities. Unfortunately if you didn’t make today’s session, it won't be running again at GPUG Summit. But I encourage you to stop by the booth and talk to us about how a simple Vendor EDI strategy can help drive your supply chain costs downstream.

Speaking of customer success, today we announced the addition of TapeCase to our family of Vantage Point EDI for Microsoft Dynamics GP users. If you’re considering a Webforms for EDI option, or are currently using this type of technology, have a read as to why TapeCase dropped their Webforms provider to gain the benefits of a truly-integrated EDI solution.

I hope everyone didn't "rock" too much at last night's party - there's a busy day ahead! See you at booth #427!

After Chillaxin' Tuesday night at the AXUG Summit Premier Party, it was a cool start to Wednesday morning with former NFL coach and author, Tony Dungy kicking off the day as the keynote speaker. Coach Dungy's delivery was motivating to say the least! Catch the recap of Coach Dungy's keynote as blogged by Dynamic Communities.

As a sponsor of AXUG, GPUG and NAVUG, it's somewhat crazy managing the schedule on days like yesterday when we presented for all three audiences and balanced our expo hall presence. Thanks to everyone who stopped by the booth to visit with the Data Masons team. And if you haven’t made it, thankfully you have some time left in the week.

We're excited to see that there is a high interest in our sessions this year that are focused on Vendor EDI. Our clients that have implemented a vendor EDI strategy have realized measurable cost savings for their business and it's a huge opportunity for other companies investing in EDI technology. If you missed yesterday's Vendor EDI session, it's running again today at 9:15AM.

It was also a highlight for us today to see one of our customers, Kent WaterSports, presenting at AXUG Summit. They shared their success and experiences about moving to R2 in hosted environment. If they didn't mention EDI, we hope you will take the chance to ask us when you stop by the booth. We would love to share with you how their EDI technology choice supported their move to R2.

Have a great day AXUG goers...

Dynamics NAV 2013, Dynamics NAV EDI, Microsoft Dynamics Community, Dynamics ERP Integration

If you're in Nashville for Directions 2013, don't miss today's session, "Vendor EDI: Helping Your Customers Push Supply Chain Costs Downstream," presented by Data Masons.

In this session, Dynamics NAV partners will learn how their customers can gain the ability to push their own costs back down through the supply chain by transacting electronically with Suppliers, Carriers and Public Warehouses using Vantage Point EDI for Microsoft Dynamics NAV. Glenn McPeak of Data Masons will also discuss how customers have successfully implemented the company's cost-effective, integrated EDI solution for Microsoft Dynamics to manage vendor EDI.

Session starts today at 2:45pm!
