Dynamics AX EDI, Dynamics GP EDI, Dynamics NAV EDI, Dynamics ERP Integration, Convergence 2013

Let’s rally for day 3 of Convergence 2013! Today it is all about you and what you want to do with your time. We have two days left together in NOLA to meet our goals we set out with when we registered to attend. Where will you be today?

Concurrent Sessions: Throughout the day.
Listen in as Microsoft product experts share their knowledge, demonstrate the product, and throw out a time-saving tip or two.

Deep Dive Sessions: Begin at 9:00am.
Similar in scope to concurrent sessions, deep dives have the freedom to cover the hottest topics with the most thoroughness. This session type is focused on the presentation, and often offers in-depth demonstrations.

Interactive Discussions: Throughout the day.
These sessions are kept small in seating and room size on purpose to foster the intimacy of the discussion; if there are topics that are high on your priority list, it’s recommended that you arrive early to claim your seat.

Convergence Experience Center: Open for business 8:00am - 6:00pm.
The morning hours are good for visiting with Technical Support staff or User Group representatives.

Expo Experience: Opens at 12:00pm.

Sponsor Sessions: Starting at 12:30pm.

And I will see you at the Data Masons booth, #742! Two days, make them count!

Dynamics AX EDI, Dynamics GP EDI, Dynamics NAV EDI, Dynamics ERP Integration, Convergence 2013

I've been to more Convergence conferences that I can count, but by far today's keynote was the best of those that I've attended. With a record setting 11,000+ in attendance, I can't imagine that I'm the only one with this thought. (Microsoft really wants our feedback on the opening keynote and sessions today, so don’t forget to fill out your evals!)

keynote

I thought last year's keynote was well-received, but Kirill's presentation today topped them all. Today's keynote focused on the themes of collaboration and unity, specifically around uniting the functions of business, technology, customers and processes. He went on to highlight Microsoft Dynamics customers Chobani Inc., Habitat for Humanity International, Revlon Inc., Shock Doctor Inc. and Weight Watchers International Inc. A couple highlights:

  • Revlon, one of the strongest consumer brand franchises in the world and a Microsoft Dynamics customer, brings the concept of unifying IT and business to life. The company is transforming the way people work and collaborate, starting by replacing 21 disparate business systems and 531 point systems with Microsoft Dynamics AX.
  • Chobani, maker of America’s No. 1-selling yogurt brand, uses a wide range of Microsoft technologies, including Microsoft Dynamics AX and CRM to keep pace with its aggressive plans for future global growth. The company uses Microsoft Dynamics CRM to communicate and connect with its consumers around the clock. Chobani also recently opened a new domestic manufacturing facility in Twin Falls, Idaho — considered the world’s largest of its kind — and was able to bring it online with Microsoft Dynamics AX in just 27 days.

Watch the Convergence 2013 Keynote.

The day also brought some major announcements as recapped by @ReadSoft:

  • Microsoft announced the acquisition of social analytics vendor Netbreeze, and prepared some dates for new product updates. The social analytics possibilities with Netbreeze looked very exciting, and blogger Mani Ramachandran (@mani_ram1) has gone into nice detail about some of the features in this post.
  • Updates announced on day two included the announcement of Azure-based Dynamics AX in 2014. Mary Jo Foley (@maryjofoley) of ZDnet has given an excellent wrap of more of these announcements here.
  • Outside of the specific announcements on day two, the cloud remained a major theme and talking point. Forbes writer Louis Columbus (@LouisColumbus) looks at the wider issue of Microsoft’s cloud strategy in this piece; while Michael Krigsman picked up on a particularly nice quote from Tatarinov which he tweeted:
@mkrigsman: “Microsoft is transforming into a devices and services company. Cloud is an integral part of Microsoft.”

Rest up tonight fellow Convergence -goers. At this pace, day 3 is sure to bring even more!

Dynamics AX EDI, Dynamics GP EDI, Dynamics NAV EDI, Dynamics ERP Integration, Convergence 2013

Yesterday was an exciting day as we all convened for Day 1 of Convergence! Lots of buzz at the user group sessions and on the expo floor during last night's reception. For the NAV community, Kerry Krosvold, one of the #CONV13 official bloggers, provided a great wrap up of yesterday's events focused on NAV:

And I'm particularly excited about the attention Microsoft's new introduction is getting, The Social Experience, which is designed to get more and more of the community connected socially. Whether or not you're in NOLA, you can keep up to date on all the event goings-on by following the official conference bloggers.

Now let's get ready to kick off day 2 of Convergence! I hear that we can looking forward to Rodney Sherwood opening up the day and making sure that we are all awake and ready for the day. Then Wayne Morris, Vice President of Marketing, will take the stage and set the tone for the rest of the week. And then it's the opening keynote with Kirill Tatarinov, President, Microsoft Business Solutions. Last year's keynote focused heavily on promoting Microsoft's dedication to its solutions and customers, as demonstrated by the multitude of customer case studies that were highlighted, so I'm looking forward to hearing how he will top that with this year's keynote.

Following the keynote, at 11:00am and 2:00pm, the product groups will lay the foundation for all of the great learning that will take place this week by sharing their vision, strategies and stories in the General Sessions. Microsoft has also invited Desiree Rogers, CEO, Johnson Publishing Company, LLC, as its Business Leadership general session guest presenter. And we'll get our first opportunities to participate in Concurrent Sessions and Interactive Discussions today at 3:30pm and again at 5:00pm.

And then two standing fixtures this week: Convergence Experience Center (Expo Hall) and The Social Experience. The expo hall is open from 12 - 6:00PM today. Come by booth #742 to meet me and the rest of the Data Masons team of EDI Experts.

For those that weren't able to make the trip to New Orleans, you can join Microsoft's Virtual Conference starting today.

PreGame_GPPC131
Yesterday’s GP Partner Connections (GPPC) PreGAME event was well-received, as expected, by attendees looking to start their Convergence 2013 experience off with a great start.

Some of the most talked about sessions on the agenda were,“Partner Mentors Speak Up,” featuring George Mackiewicz of Cal Business Solutions, Martin Olsen of eONE Solutions, and John Hendrickson of InterDyn BMI. Also creating buzz, “Fighting Back in the Sales Cycle” where attendees dived into how to compete with, and beat, SAGE and NetSuite. And then as popular as always, the MVPs took to the stage to tackle audience questions.

During the event, some of the interesting information / announcements shared included:

While it’s a wrap on another successful GPPC PreGAME, it’s a great start to a week sure to be full of announcements for the Microsoft Dynamics GP community. See you on the expo floor - Data Masons Booth #742.

iLoveNAV_graphic_webAnnounced last week, ILoveNAV, an alternative outlet for Microsoft Dynamics NAV product feedback, will now be managed and maintenaned by NAVUG. For the last two years, ArcherPoint, US-based Dynamics NAV consultancy and ILoveNAV founder, has been managing the site which aims to be a more open, social, and accessible option to Microsoft Connect by simplifying the process of submitting product enhancement ideas.

According to MSDynamicsWorld.com' s article, Greg Kaupp, managing partner at ArcherPoint, felt that with his firm directly associated with the site meant that ILoveNAV might not gain trust of everyone in the NAV community, despite the community's interest from the start. He wanted to find a way for his team to step back from its role in keeping ILoveNAV going. Kaupp stated, "While we remain very committed to I Love NAV we have wanted to deemphasize our role so that more partners, ISVs, and end users will actively participate in promoting the site. It was always our goal for this to be a community driven site and not an ArcherPoint site."

For the community, transitioning management of ILoveNAV to NAVUG seems like a natural move. Trish Boccuti, Marketing & Program Director at NAVUG says, "NAVUG is excited about the opportunity to take over ILoveNAV. ArcherPoint has done a great job making the site a destination for users to submit ideas and changes for NAV. Once NAVUG takes over, we hope to take it to the next level by getting more partners, for example, at Forum, the ILoveNAV booth will be the “help desk” for NAV users – staffed by NAVUG Members and Microsoft. We are really looking forward to bringing ILoveNAV into the NAVUG Community."

Looking forward to seeing ILoveNAV continue to grow.

comm
Within the last month Microsoft introduced its new Microsoft Dynamics Community site. From the design to function, there are some great new enhancements that now make it easier for new members to join, navigate through and search the site, and stay up-to-date on relevant information. A few of the newest updates include:

QUICK SIGNUP
We've made it much faster to join the Microsoft Dynamics Community -- now all it takes is to create a screen name (which is used for the URL to your profile page), enter your name, and select a product group to join.

JOIN PRODUCT GROUPS
Participating in a product-specific community (such as asking a question in a forum, commenting on a blog, or creating a subscription) now requires you to join the group. New members can join right from the signup page. Existing members will see an orange "join" button at the top of the page -- click it, and you're ready to participate.

UPDATED NAVIGATION
The navigation has been updated to provide quick access to everything available, whether you're on the home page or within a product community.

You'll also find three new options in the upper-right of the site: Conversations, Favorites, and Settings. Conversations are private messages you've received from other members. The "Favorites" menu displays any blogs or forums that you've added as a favorite.

You can also favorite individual forum posts, blog articles, and videos and access them from the "Favorites" tab on your Profile page, available via either clicking your name in the upper right area or by clicking the "View All" link on the "Favorites" menu.

Use the Settings link to set preferences such as your time zone, email preferences, and manage your subscriptions.

IMPROVED SEARCH
You can now filter your search results by the type of information you're looking for, author, tags, and date.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in New Orleans. You can find me at Data Masons’ Booth, #742, and as one of the Official Convergence Bloggers supporting The Social Experience, you know where to find me socially.
