The translation of raw data formats to meet EDI requirements is commonly part of an EDI solution provider’s offering, but how they deliver this function varies from one vendor to another. You may not put a priority on understanding how this function is implemented, but it is a critical component when selecting an EDI provider.

Some EDI providers rely on legacy translators such as Gentran® to manage data reformatting and mapping of EDI data.

This might be a challenge-filled proposition for your business.

Using 3rd party EDI translators introduces a separate point of failure and divided responsibility to your EDI system. This will possibly inhibit your ability to manage EDI efficiently and cost-effectively.

Doubling the number of technology vendors supporting EDI can create a lot of confusion regarding who owns what when issues arise and who is responsible for the issue. This will often delay resolution and put the accurate and timely execution of EDI at risk.

Your EDI solution should also work seamlessly with your ERP system. Making changes to your ERP system to overcome the limitations of your EDI Translator creates the risk of compromising upgrades, service pack installations, etc.

What’s the alternative to using an EDI solution with a 3rd-party translator... Read the Complete Article on goERPcloud.

supplier_side_edi.jpgWhile many businesses are leveraging EDI with customers, organizations that also use EDI to trade with suppliers, 3rd party warehouse, carriers, etc. may have an advantage over competitors.

Automating procedure-to-pay processes such as PO, PO Acknowledgments, ASNS, invoices, and payment remittance will streamline processes and communication, improving accuracy between your business and key suppliers.

While many SMBs are aware of the ability to implement EDI with suppliers, many figure if no one is forcing them to do it, then why should they... Read the Full Article

Certified for Dynamics AX 2012 R3: Vantage Point EDI continues to be the leading choice for customers and partners worldwide.

microsoft-dynamics-certification-ax-2012We're pleased to announce the recertification of our Vantage Point EDI for Dynamics AX solution for AX 2012 R3.

Vantage Point EDI delivers an all-in-one approach to EDI for Microsoft Dynamics. By leveraging the latest technology and taking advantage of specific functionality built into the Microsoft Dynamics ERP platforms, Data Masons delivers a tightly-integrated EDI solution that eliminates the need for ERP customizations. Combined with Data Masons’ compliance management services, the company helps Microsoft Dynamics customers worldwide turn EDI into a competitive advantage.

“The recertification of Vantage Point EDI highlights our focused commitment to the Microsoft Dynamics AX platform which has been a primary platform for Data Masons since 2001. Vantage Point EDI enables Dynamics AX customers to meet the significant challenges of integrating their entire supply chain activities into Dynamics AX without invasive AX customizations,” states Glenn McPeak, Director.

What does this certification mean for customers and partners? It means you have the most solid and reliable EDI option available to you and your business, and a true EDI partner who has earned the trust of both Microsoft and hundreds of Dynamics AX customers and partners worldwide.

“Data Masons' EDI solution for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 was the easiest application we implemented into our AX 2012 environment. Our first project, fully integrated EDI processing with a third party warehouse, took several weeks to implement which was fast. What was most surprising was the implementation of our second warehouse relationship – it took 24 hours! Data Masons has created an amazing EDI solution that makes it easy to implement new processes and trading partner relationships with Dynamics AX. They do all of this without AX customizations which is a key value proposition to Chobani,” shares Maureen Hurley, Vice President, IT Strategy & Architecture at Chobani.

John Foley at Microsoft Dynamics FY16 Kick OffWith NDAs in place, it’s challenging to share a good portion of what went down in Nashville at the Microsoft Dynamics FY16 Kick Off event. I can most definitely say that the energy was amazing with approximately 1,000 Microsoft professionals in attendance.

Following the event’s theme of Evolution of Industry, the program focused on the velocity of Microsoft’s shared industry vision and revenue, which included a larger showcase of Dynamics CRM and Dynamics NAV as compared to previous kick off events. Marietta Davis, Vice President of US Dynamics for Microsoft, highlighted her strong vision for the future of Microsoft Dynamics and its ability to revolutionize new industries through partners and customers. Davis, along with her Dynamics colleagues, shared some key points and goals regarding the growth in the Dynamics space:

  • 271% growth in net online growth

  • Market share was focused on AX, but the US looks to grow it to $215 million volume revenue including AX, GP, NAV and SL

  • 16% market share targeted growth for Dynamics AX in FY16 - Ambitious and doable!

Overall, the message heard from center stage was that what’s transpiring is the mainstreaming of Dynamics. Davis summed up Microsoft’s vision by emphasizing, “Together we will drive the Dynamics business forward, greater as a whole than as a sum of the parts. By obsessing about our customers and partners while we grow the business, we will reach our mission and vision stronger together.”

Howard Walovitch, US SMB ERP (SL/GP/NAV) and CRM Sales Director for Microsoft, shared that the ERP SMB Team had a stellar FY15 and that he’s looking forward to seeing that momentum going strong in FY16. Kudos to Walovitch & the SMB Team, and to all the Microsoft Partners making this happen! A couple of points shared during his presentation:

  • The focus of his team is to provide solutions that incorporate Dynamics ERP (SL/GP/NAV), CRM, O365, Azure and BI to support the full business needs of end customers. The team includes Sales, Partner Account Management, Strategy and Presales, and it represents the heart of the Dynamics sales channel.

  • The “Give Me 5” Promotion is coming back for Dynamics GP and NAV. This promotion expires September 27th, 2015.

Microsoft recruited John Foley, former Lead Solo Pilot for the US Navy Blue Angels, as the closing keynote speaker, and wow, what energy he brought to the stage!  We anticipated that John would inspire us with his energy and his commitment to serving others, and that he did. During his time on stage, John also presented a unique framework that makes High Performance possible for anyone in any organization.

If you attended the Microsoft Dynamics FY16 Kick Off, while we have to keep our lips tight when it comes to what we discuss with others, we have free reign in the feedback we share with Microsoft.  Complete the event surveys when they come to you and be sure Microsoft understands the importance of holding this event for its partner community.
