Mark Polino New Book Release: Building Dashboards with Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 and Excel 2013

Mark just released his newest book, Building Dashboards with Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 and Excel 2013. The book details how to build a Financial dashboard with Microsoft Excel using live data from Dynamics GP. For users that have a 20130331-210416CEO, CFO or other CxO asking for a dashboard, this book is your go-to resource for a step by step walk through. For users on GP 10 or 2010 and on Excel versions prior to 2013, most of the items in the book will still work for you with some small variation. Then when you do upgrade to GP 2013 you’ll be ahead of the curve.

When I asked Mark what was the most popular question/concern expressed during the dashboard sessions at Convergence, he commented:

"At our Excel dashboard session at Convergence, lots of people were interested in the sample dashboard from Microsoft. It’s a nice starting point, but it does take some work to hook up the connections. There were also some concerns around refreshable Excel reports. I’m not sure we’re doing enough to really get it setup right and explain how security works.

In this book, I cover the Microsoft Dashboard, but more importantly, we delve into how to build your own dashboard that can be unique to a specific organization’s needs. I also cover everything I possibly could on deploying, setting up, securing and using refreshable Excel reports. These provide a great foundation for a dashboard."

Building Dashboards is available through Amazon.com and Packt Publishing. Barnes & Noble doesn’t have it yet. The book is available in print and various ebook versions including Kindle, PDF and EPub formats. If you buy the print book from Packt they include a free ebook version as well.
