“If Brad Pitt can’t make accounting software sexy, no one can.” Oh, that Mark Polino…

If you’re in the Dynamics GP space and don’t know Mark Polino by now, you’re not only missing out on one of the most knowledgeable GP minds in the business, but also on an author and social media enthusiast that takes a playful approach to many of the pieces he writes.  Recently Mark published A Yeti’s Guide to GPUG Summit 2011 and before that A Space Alien’s Guide to Microsoft Convergence, but on the more serious side, he published his latest book, Microsoft Dynamics GP Cookbook.   I had a chance to catch up with Mark during GP Partner Connections earlier this week and he gave me a bit more insight on the whole book writing process and what’s next for him.

After Mark’s “ 50 Tips in 50 Minutes for Dynamics GP” presentation received rave reviews, he was looking for a way to extend that information to more users. So this book really started as an outgrowth of the presentation and it moved quickly.

While Mark was challenged by the schedule to produce a new chapter every 18 days and by managing traditional and technical edits, the end result has received a terrific response. Mark’s enjoyed a number of great reviews from Dynamics GP MVP’s and continues to hear from GP users that they really like what’s in the Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 Cookbook.

While Mark may not be announcing his next book yet, he’s always publishing something new on his blog, DynamicAccounting.net. Mark started blogging to remember tips that he couldn’t find other places and it quickly blossomed into more. Mark notes that “The number of people involved in sharing information about Dynamics GP is just incredible now, but I don’t feel like I’m out of ideas so I’m still helping people along.”

And what’s up with Brad Pitt?   That’s my fault. For fun I asked Mark what actor he would want to play his role should his process of publishing the book be made into a movie.   Good answer Mark!
